LEGIC smart is the latest 13.56MHz product from the contactless
access control and multi-applications specialist LEGIC Identsystems
Ltd.
Legic MIM256/MIM1024 has been specifically developed to meet the
requirements of contactless access control products, such as door
locks, but is also suitable for use in time & attendance terminals.
1. Application

| Permanent storage of system and user data | The MIM256-MM permanently stores the data without electrical energy
in the integrated EEPROM. For the reading and writing of data the energy is taken from the RF field of the write/read unit. |
| Communication with security modules | The security module of a write/read unit writes data to the
MIM256-MM by means of appro- priate modulation procedures or reads out data. The communication is carried out according to the LEGIC Rules. For a detailed description of the modulation process see document "Ba- sics of the LEGIC system", L3-02-001. |
| Control of the LEGIC Rules | The MIM256-MM ensures the observance of the LEGIC Rules during the

2 .Design
A MIM-ASIC of type MIM256-MM contains all necessary circuit
components on one chip (see"Circuit diagram").
The single chip has two connection areas (Bondpads L1, L2) for the
connection of the anten-
na (see also "Dimensional diagram", page 3). The antenna wires are
connected with these
connection areas through "bonding" (see also document "Wafer
MIM256-MM",
L3-04-008).
Individual licensees also offer chips that have been already
processed; these are available
in the form of ISO card inlets or chip modules
